How to use Scientific Calculator

This is the Scientific Calculator utility. 100% client-side and offline capable.

Common Questions

What functions does this Scientific Calculator support?

Our Scientific Calculator supports a comprehensive range of functions including: Trigonometric (sin, cos, tan and their inverses), Logarithmic (log₁₀, log₂, ln, and custom base), Exponential (e^x, 10^x), Factorial (n!), Square Root (√), and Power (x^y). It also includes constants like π and e.

How do I use the Matrix Calculator?

Navigate to the Matrix tab, set your matrix dimensions (up to 5×5), select an operation, and enter your values. Supported operations include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Scalar Multiply, Determinant, Transpose, Inverse (2×2, 3×3), Trace, Rank, and Power. Each calculation shows step-by-step working.

What types of equations can the Solver solve?

The Equation Solver handles: Linear (ax + b = 0), Quadratic (ax² + bx + c = 0, including complex roots), Cubic (ax³ + bx² + cx + d = 0), Systems of Equations (2 and 3 variables), Exponential (a·e^kx = b), and Logarithmic equations with base 2, 10, e, or any custom base. It displays full solution steps and graphs.

How does the Statistical Analysis (Stats) module work?

Enter your dataset as comma-separated values in the Stats tab, select a chart type (Bar, Line, Pie, or Histogram), and click Analyze. The tool calculates Mean, Median, Mode, Standard Deviation, Variance, Min, Max, Sum, and Count. Results are displayed as cards with a dynamic visualization of your data.

What unit conversions are available?

Our Unit Converter supports 15 categories: Length, Area, Volume, Weight/Mass, Temperature, Speed, Pressure, Energy, Power, Force, Time, Digital Storage, Number Base (binary, octal, decimal, hex), Angle, and Frequency. Each conversion shows the formula and step-by-step calculation process.

Can I switch between Degrees and Radians?

Yes! Click the D/R button on the keypad to toggle between Degree (DEG) and Radian (RAD) modes. The current mode is displayed in the top-right corner of the display. All trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan and their inverses) will calculate accordingly.

What does the SHIFT (2nd) button do?

The 2nd (SHIFT) button activates secondary functions: sin becomes asin (arcsin), cos becomes acos (arccos), tan becomes atan (arctan), log becomes 10^x, and ln becomes e^x. Press 2nd before the function key to access these inverse operations.

Does this calculator remember my previous calculations?

Yes! The History sidebar stores your last 30 calculations in your browser's local storage. Click any history item to reload that result. You also have Memory functions (MR to recall, M+ to add) that persist across sessions.

Is this calculator free to use?

Absolutely! Our Scientific Calculator is 100% free with no registration required. All features—including Matrix, Solver, Stats, and Converter modules—are available instantly. We don't show intrusive ads or limit daily usage.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes. All calculations are performed 100% client-side in your browser using JavaScript. No data is ever sent to our servers. Your equations, matrices, and datasets remain completely private on your device.
